October 29th and 30th, 2011 NJ & NY
New York Susquehanna & Western Railway, Southern Division
& Middletown & New Jersey Railroad Hudson Secondary
The Volunteer Railroaders Association is pleased to sponsor a 2-day, 160 mile round-trip run over the NYS&W Southern Division and the M&NJ Hudson Secondary October 29th and 30th, 2011. This will be similar to the trip held in May with a change in lunch stop on Sunday. On Saturday we will run approximately 80 round-trip miles between Sparta, NJ and Hawthorne, NJ. On Sunday the participants will travel approximately 80 round-trip miles between Sparta, NJ and Campbell Hall, NY. This leg of the trip includes 37 roundtrip miles of running over new track between Warwick, NY and Campbell Hall, NY. Operators and riders under 18 are not permitted by the railroad. Trip fee of $160.00 per car includes railroad costs. Lunch on Sunday will be on your own in Warwick, NY. On Saturday we are planning on a bbq or deli sandwich lunch for an additional $9.00 per person. ECs for the trip are KC Smith and Chris Vitz with Craig Hartman assisting. There is a 40 car limit. This is a NARCOA insured excursion, and all NARCOA rules will apply. This is a non-mentoring run.
The NYS&W requires that ALL operators pass a Northeast Operating Rules Advisory Committee (NORAC) guidelines training class and test prior to the event. If you have a current NORAC certification please mail us copies that we can forward to the railroad. A class will be offered Friday night prior to the next day’s trip. To attend the event operators MUST attend the class and pass the test. If you have attended a previous class and have a current NORAC certification you will not need to attend. We are sorry for the inconvenience but this is a requirement of the railroad. Your NORAC certification will be good for three full years.
