It has been a relatively quiet summer for the VRA. We had a BBQ at Hawthorne Station to thank all of our volunteers from the Easter Bunny train. We entered into a short-term lease with the Cape May Seashore Lines, for two of our motorcars, the A5 brush car and the Woodings. CMSL will be running the two speeders along with two trailer cars out of Cape May each day for the month of August into September, since they cannot get any equipment from Tuckahoe to Cape May for the time being. Justin Kerstner, Carolyn Hoffman, KC and Carol Smith and I brought the cars down on the weekend of July 26/27 for Historic Cold Spring Village’s Railroad Days. The event was relatively well attended and got some much needed action back to the CMSL.
Just previous to writing this report, I received word that the URHS will be hosting an Open House on September 16th. Look for more information and times on the Yahoo Group. We all hope to have a great turn out like the previous open house. As always come on out and join us in the fun when we have open houses at the Hawthorne Station, and work parties in Boonton yard. I’ll also be looking for volunteers to come help out on the M&NJ railroad, to repaint their caboose in the near future. I’ll see everyone trackside!
